- High susceptibility of Mg alloys to corrosion in aggressive environments limits their widespread applications. Chemical conversion coating is one of the most effective approaches for enhancing the corrosion performance of Mg alloys for a broad range of commercial services. This chapter covers both fundamentals and the latest advances in chemical conversion coating technologies for Mg alloys, including applications of contemporary methods for chemical conversion coatings, establishment of a corrosion protection framework for Mg alloys, and understanding of plausible corrosion-resistant mechanisms of chemical conversion coatings on Mg alloys. Lastly, challenges and future prospects in the field are discussed
